Success in Funding

We can now announce more success in our search for funding for the sports projects being undertaken at the Welfare: - To date we have received £133k worth of grant monies along with the Miners' contribution we have been able to complete a number of successful projects. This includes the installation of a MUGA (multi use games area).

This was made possible by a grant from Barclays open spaces for sport and a lot of time and effort from Ground Work Wrexham with whom we have formed a really great partnership. Next on the list was the complete replacement of the drainage system on the football and cricket pitches again we made a successful grant application this time to the Sports Council Wales who have also contributed to the installation of an artificial cricket wicket.

As already reported we have also improved our access to and around the Bowling Greens and also made the sports pitches more accessible for our disabled members this was thanks to a grant from the West Wrexham Key Fund.

Next projects on the horizon are the new partition in the main room downstairs, this will separate the extension from the original main room giving us more business and sporting opportunities. We have already successfully obtained the required funding for this. We are also in the process of deciding on the design of a Mural to be located in the main foyer as you enter the building this has been made possible by a successful application to the Arts Council Wales.
